Etihad Rail Passenger Service Launches: Everything You Need to Know About Routes, Ticket Prices & Travel Classes

The wait is finally over. The highly anticipated Etihad Rail passenger service has officially launched, marking a major milestone in the UAE's public transportation network. The first passenger route now connects Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, offering residents and visitors a faster, more comfortable way to travel across the country.

As the railway network expands to Dubai, Sharjah, and other emirates over the coming months, Etihad Rail is expected to transform intercity travel by providing a reliable alternative to driving.


Abu Dhabi to Fujairah: The First Passenger Route

The first Etihad Rail passenger service officially began operations on June 30, connecting Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. This launch represents the first phase of a much larger railway network that will eventually connect all seven emirates.

Passengers can already book tickets for this route through the official Etihad Rail website and mobile application.


Etihad Rail Ticket Prices

To celebrate the launch, Etihad Rail is offering special introductory fares for the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route.


Comfort Class

Designed for everyday travellers, Comfort Class includes:

  • Guaranteed seating

  • Free Wi-Fi

  • Power outlets at every seat

  • Spacious luggage storage


Introductory Fare: AED 55

After the promotional period, the standard Comfort Class fare is expected to be AED 109.


Premium Class

For passengers seeking a more premium travel experience, Premium Class offers:

  • Wider and more comfortable seats

  • Complimentary refreshments

  • All Comfort Class amenities

  • Wi-Fi and charging ports

  • Extra luggage space


Introductory Fare: AED 120

The expected regular fare after the launch promotion is AED 239.

Within both travel classes, passengers can choose from three fare types depending on their travel flexibility.

Value

  • Free seat selection

  • Ticket changes included

  • AED 10 extra


Flex

  • Seat selection

  • Ticket changes

  • Refundable tickets

  • Greater flexibility if travel plans change

  • AED 20 extra


Tickets can be booked up to four weeks before departure, making it easier to plan business trips and holidays in advance.


When Will Dubai Ticket Prices Be Announced?

While ticket prices have been announced for the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route, Etihad Rail has not yet revealed fares for Dubai, Sharjah, or the remaining stations.

The first Dubai passenger station will be located at Jumeirah Golf Estates, with pricing expected to be announced closer to the station's opening.

It is also not yet confirmed whether introductory promotional fares will be offered for the Dubai launch.


Etihad Rail Expansion Timeline

The passenger railway network will continue expanding in phases.

September 30

  • Al Dhaid

December 30

  • Additional stations across the Al Dhafra region

March 30, 2027

  • Sharjah University City Station

These additions will gradually create a nationwide rail network connecting key cities, residential areas, business districts, and tourist destinations.
